Pinched cups

Basic information

In this workshop, you will try one of the oldest pottery techniques – shaping clay by hand, known as the pinching technique. Without using a pottery wheel, you will gradually form your own vessels using only your palms, fingers, and gentle pressure on the clay.

Each participant will receive 1 kg of clay, which is enough to make, for example, two larger cups, two bowls, or four small espresso cups. You can decorate your pieces according to your imagination by carving into the clay, adding small clay ornaments, and finally colouring them with engobes.

Your finished pieces will stay in our studio to dry. We will then fire them, dip them in a transparent glaze, and fire them again. After about two weeks, we will let you know and you can come and pick up your finished ceramics at our studio.
