Ceramic tableware

Basic information

The instructor will guide you through the hand-building ceramic process, where you'll have the opportunity to try out the following techniques:

- Pinching
- Building from slabs using templates
- Shaping from slabs with the help of molds.

You'll be able to choose what type of tableware you'd like to create:

- Handle-less cups
- Mugs with handles
- Plates of various sizes
- Bowls and dishes
- Serving boards, and more.

In the first session, you'll shape your tableware and add basic decorations to the clay. We'll also cover the fundamental techniques of hand-built ceramics. Afterward, the pieces will be left to dry completely and undergo their first firing—called bisque firing.

By the second session, your pieces will be ready for further decoration. You'll be able to paint them with brushes, use pigments, or dip them in glaze. After decorating, they'll go through the final firing process, known as the glaze firing.

Once your creations have been fired for the second time, you'll be invited by the instructor to pick up your finished pieces.
