Ceramics for Kids and Parents

Basic information

This course is designed for those looking for a shared creative activity for their children and themselves. Young children aged 3–6 participate in the creative process together with a parent.

The goal of this semester-long course is to provide space and guidance for parents who want to support the creative and motor development of their little ones.

Instructor Anička prepares a theme for each class, which the child and parent work on together. As you gradually build your skills, the themes will evolve, and the parent—who may initially act more as a supporter—will grow into an equal partner in the creative process.

Our vision is that by the end of the semester, the projects will be truly collaborative, with both parents and children having meaningful roles.

At the start of each lesson, the instructor introduces the theme through a short story or poem, and the pairs then explore it creatively. The world of a child’s imagination is beautiful and colorful. The aim of this course is to nurture that imagination and allow parents to peek inside and become part of it.

The reward will be not only the shared creations but, most importantly, the time spent together, the development of cooperation in the creative process, and the sharing of ideas and dreams. Ceramics also helps develop spatial awareness and fine motor skills.
